BASSERE: Supercapacitive Batteries for providing Balancing Services in Power Grids

Research project corresponding to the call 2023 and reference CPP2023-010851, for grants for «Proyectos de colaboración público-privada».

In line with national and international objectives, the solution proposed in this project consists of developing an energy storage system based on a metal-free hybrid supercapacitor that offers the performance of a lithium-ion battery and a longer service life without the need for lithium, cobalt, or other metals. This involves the implementation, in an experimental setting, of a disruptive innovation that guarantees high power and energy without the need for toxic components, promoting the use of non-corrosive, safe, and particularly low-cost storage materials.
