This has been shown experimentally and computationally, however, there is a step still missing, the connection between these two. The main change produced by the 3D structuration of batteries is the change in the rate performance.<\/p>\n<p>However, until now this magnitude has been poorly characterized experimentally. Recently it has been developed a methodology able to quantify the rate performance and bridge it to physical-based models, the so-called master-curve model.<\/p>\n<p>The problem with the master curve is that the parameters that link the experimental with the modelling are based on 2D-shaped electrodes, and it has been never applied in 3D structures. Thus, this is the problem that B3ES aims to solve, bring this methodology to 3D devices.<\/p>\n<p>In B3ES we will use the strength of the master-curve model to create a methodology to quantify the performance of experimental 3D devices and relate it to the shape of the devices. We will do this by intertwining significant experimental and modelling efforts with a close interaction between them. The data extracted experimentally will be combined with physical-based models to understand the limiting mechanisms behind each shape and current applied. This will allow us to re-design the semi-empiric master curve model and make it work for 3D structures.
