Nuevos aspectos termodin\u00e1micos, fluidodin\u00e1micos y de ingenier\u00eda, nunca antes considerados en el almacenamiento de energ\u00eda, se convertir\u00e1n en actores clave en el desarrollo de esta tecnolog\u00eda, que constituye un cambio de paradigma en el almacenamiento de energ\u00eda.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Una de las principales barreras para el despliegue mundial de sistemas de almacenamiento de energ\u00eda acoplados a plantas de generaci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda renovable y redes de distribuci\u00f3n, est\u00e1 relacionada con su elevado coste de inversi\u00f3n. Las bater\u00edas de flujo redox RFBs propuestas, sin membranas y que utilizan pares redox org\u00e1nicos, pueden llevar a costes de inversi\u00f3n claramente por debajo del umbral del DoE de EE.UU. (150 $\/kWh) porque ahorrar\u00e1n el coste de las membranas, utilizar\u00e1n compuestos org\u00e1nicos de bajo coste y no necesitar\u00e1n materiales costosos \u00a0resistentes a la corrosi\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, estas bater\u00edas no requerir\u00e1n la limpieza y sustituci\u00f3n de la membrana, ni el reajuste de electrolitos despu\u00e9s de un uso prolongado, lo que hace que la operaci\u00f3n y el mantenimiento sean significativamente m\u00e1s sencillos y apropiados para aplicaciones dom\u00e9sticas.
