Dado que los combustibles f\u00f3siles no pueden proporcionar una fuente sostenible de energ\u00eda limpia capaz de satisfacer nuestras demandas futuras, la sociedad necesita cambiar el modelo econ\u00f3mico, encontrando alternativas reales y ecol\u00f3gicas basadas en energ\u00edas renovables. Entre estas soluciones energ\u00e9ticas verdes, la producci\u00f3n de hidr\u00f3geno mediante la divisi\u00f3n de agua y la reducci\u00f3n de CO<sub>2<\/sub> a trav\u00e9s de la ruta (foto)electrocatal\u00edtica destacan como dos alternativas prometedoras para el nuevo modelo econ\u00f3mico sostenible de sociedad. En este sentido, el desarrollo de tecnolog\u00edas innovadoras de fotos\u00edntesis artificial que permitir\u00e1n el desarrollo de dispositivos integrados para la producci\u00f3n de productos qu\u00edmicos y combustibles a partir de CO<sub>2<\/sub>, H<sub>2<\/sub>O y energ\u00eda solar constituye un elemento clave para la transici\u00f3n a un modelo de desarrollo econ\u00f3mico m\u00e1s sostenible y de bajas emisiones de carbono. Sin embargo, la conversi\u00f3n de CO<sub>2<\/sub> en combustibles y productos qu\u00edmicos solares supone actualmente un gran reto al que se enfrenta la comunidad cient\u00edfica, tanto desde el punto de vista fundamental como como desde el punto de vista de la aplicaci\u00f3n.
