PROJECTS

MADBAT

Madrid Competitive, Safe, and Sustainable Battery

The main objective of the project is to develop new active materials for anodes and cathodes (AAM and CAM) in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), optimizing manufacturing processes and improving cell performance. This project ranges from laboratory testing (TRL 2–3) to prototype scaling (TRL 4). Furthermore, the project promotes the use of sustainable raw materials and processes with low environmental impact, reducing dependence on external resources. This development aligns with the vision of contributing to European technological independence and energy sovereignty by ensuring a local supply of the critical materials needed for battery manufacturing, thereby reducing dependence on suppliers outside the European Union.

Project funded by the Comunidad de Madrid and co-funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), through the 2025 call for “Ayudas para contribuir a la mejora de la cooperación público-privada en materia de I+D+I mediante proyectos de efecto tractor en consorcio”, under the Comunidad de Madrid Program 2021–2027.
