COFs are advocated due to their potential to effectively store electrochemical energy. In AIBs, COFs are envisioned to serve as electrode materials, while in RFBs, they are proposed to act as solid redox-active boosters. COFs offer several advantages, including being low-cost, abundantly available, thermally and temporally stable, and featuring tunable properties such as redox potentials and solubility.<\/p>\n<p>COFs will be designed with specific characteristics tailored to each technology, such as pore size, surface area, and redox activity. This customization aims to ensure optimal performance in different electrolyte environments, whether non-aqueous for AIBs or aqueous for mediated RFBs. By utilizing COFs, the research aims to address the contrasting requirements of alkali-ion batteries and RFBs, such as the solubility of organic redox-active materials (ORMs).<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>COFFEE <\/strong>project, seeks to create cost-effective COFs-based ORMs and identify optimal operational conditions for practical implementation in energy storage technologies. This includes tuning redox activity and stability in non-aqueous electrolytes for alkali-ion batteries and in aqueous media for mediated RFBs, thereby enhancing the performance and scalability of renewable energy storage systems. The COFFEE project will create cost-effective COFs-based ORMs and choose the best operational conditions for real-world technology transfer.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Partners: <\/strong>IMDEA
