GENERA 2025

From November 18 to 20, IMDEA Energy will participate in GENERA 2025, the International Energy and Enviroment Fair held at IFEMA Madrid, established as a major meeting point for the energy sector.
The institute will be present by organizing four technical sessions, which will take place on November 19 in Room N114 of the North Convention Center at IFEMA. These sessions will bring together researchers, companies, and leading organizations to discuss some of the main challenges and opportunities in the energy sector.
IMDEA Energy Session Program – November 19, Room N114
10:30 – 12:00 | Green Hydrogen: Integration of Generation, Consumption, and Ecodesign
A roundtable focused on the integration of green hydrogen generation and consumption with different technologies, as well as the ecodesign of electrolyzers, fuel cells, and the hydrogen sector in general. The discussion will address the eco-(re)design of both mature and emerging products, ensuring sustainable design criteria are incorporated from the earliest stages of product development. This session will be of interest to experts in materials research and innovation, manufacturers of electrolyzers and fuel cells, hydrogen system integrators, and end users in sectors such as power generation, energy storage, and industry.
12:00 – 13:30 | Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in Solar Thermal Technologies
A panel discussion on artificial intelligence and digitalization as disruptive enabling technologies aimed at improving the performance of solar thermal plants, preventive maintenance, characterization methodologies, communications, new material design, and digital twin development. The panel is targeted at industrial companies and engineering firms interested in concentrated solar power, industrial process decarbonization, or hydrogen generation via solar thermal, as well as research centers and companies focused on improving efficiency and technology in the solar energy sector.
15:30 – 17:00 | Sustainable Aviation Fuels: Driving an Innovation Hub
The “Madrid Vuela Sostenible” Innovation Hub, focused on the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), has achieved technical progress that will be presented and discussed during this session. The hub has also attracted various stakeholders from the value chain who have joined as advisors and potential users. The session is aimed at industrial companies and engineering firms involved in sustainable fuel production, airlines, airport infrastructure managers, and aircraft and equipment manufacturers.
17:00 – 18:30 | Storage and Conversion for Manageable Renewable Energy
A roundtable discussing the development of technological solutions to improve the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid, evaluating their technical and economic feasibility. Through wind-solar hybridization, battery energy storage, and green hydrogen production and utilization, it is possible to reduce energy costs and increase renewable participation in the energy mix. This session is intended for experts in battery research and innovation, battery manufacturers, system integrators, and end users in sectors such as automotive, industry, or electrical and thermal energy storage.
