FOTOFUEL: New challenges in the production of solar fuels
Research network corresponding to the call 2022 and reference: RED2022-134295-T.
One of the most important challenges of society today is the development of a new energy model based on sustainable fuel production technologies through the integration of renewable energy sources. It is vital to develop a new generation of efficient technologies and materials based on renewable energies to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and to reduce their atmospheric concentration by valorisation processes.
In this context, the main objective of the FOTOFUEL Network is to face these challenges through the development of materials and devices for the production of solar fuels from abundant raw materials (CO2, H2O, N2 and biomass), promoting synergy, cooperation and communication not only among the Network members but also with the whole scientific and business community in the field of renewable energies.
The consortium is formed by some institutions, where different research groups are integrated, by universities and research centres (IMDEA Energy, ICP-CSIC, ICIQ, ITQ-UPV, IMDEA Materials, ICMM, UB, ICMS, UA, UJI, UNICAN, IREC, UPM) and including 3 ICTS (PSA-CIEMAT, CELLS, ESRF). These partners will develop different integrated sub-projects promoting the synergies in complementary disciplines such as: Chemistry, Materials Science, photo(electro) catalysis, Artificial Intelligence, reactor development, Solar technologies and Advanced Characterisation, among others.
