UPGRES: Production of sustainable fuels by UPGrading of both digestate and stillage RESidues through the integration of thermochemical, catalytic and biotechnological processes

Research project corresponding to the call 2021 and reference: PLEC2021-007761, within the State Program of Research, Development and Innovation Oriented Challenges of the Society (RDI projects in strategic lines, in public-private partnership).

The UPGRES project is aimed to the development of an innovative combination of processes for the efficient valorization of the residues generated in anaerobic digestion and fermentative bioethanol production, affording different types of sustainable fuels and products. The achievement of this objective will have a very positive impact in the current technologies of both biogas and bioethanol production as it will allow the volume of residues so generated to be sharply reduced, while obtaining additional valuable fuels and products.
