Dr. Julio J. Lado participated in the 4th International Conference on Capacitive Deionization
Dr. Julio J. Lado, postdoctoral researcher of the Electrochemical Processes Unit at IMDEA Energy participated in the 4th International Conference on Capacitive Deionization & Electrosorption (CDI&E) held in the prestigious Tsinghua University (Beijing, China), the 20-23 May 2019. Over two hundred researchers attended to the conference celebrated in which more than 60 oral presentations and 40 posters were presented.
Dr. Lado presented some of his last results in the CDI topic in an oral presentation titled "Scale-up of a CDI System Equipped with High Mass-Loading Activated Carbon Electrodes: From Laboratory Cell to Pilot Plant” as part of the session devoted to the “CDI performance stability and scale-up”. Some other topics covered in the conference included, electrode materials in CDI and MCDI, specific ions removal and nutrient recovery in CDI or Faradaic reactions and the application in CDI and FCDI.

As part of his trip to China, Dr. Lado visited different Universities and Research Centers. At the beginning of his trip, Dr. Lado was invited by Dr. Yang Wang, former postdoctoral researcher in IMDEA Energy and now assistant proffesor in the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Tianjin University to visit his department.
Moreover , Dr. Lado was invited by Dr Jianbo Shi (史建波) to visit State Key Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology in the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences founded in 1975. Currently there are 473 staff in RCEES, including 5 academicians, 105 research professors, 106 associate professors, 179 assistant professors and 28 junior researchers or administrators working in various areas. There are 11 research departments or laboratories including three state key laboratories. Dr. Lado gave a talk to introducing the different research lines developed in IMDEA Energy, specially focusing on energy efficient electrochemical processes for environmental applications.
