E4F-POLISOLIDBAT: All-solid-state batteries based on polymeric compounds

Fundación Iberdrola España (FIBE) is a non-profit foundation of the Spanish IBERDROLA Group, one of the most important global energy leaders. FIBE will coordinate the EU-funded E4F project within the clean and sustainable energy domain (Photovoltaic Energy, Wind Energy, Energy Storage, Smart Grids and Electric Vehicle). The project aims to attract exceptional worldwide experienced researchers (ERs), and will bring together 19 European and non-European academic and industrial partner organisations, as hosting and/or secondment entities. The project will implement a 5-year fellowship programme recruiting 28 ERs in two calls, with each post-doctoral fellowship having a duration of 24 months, and promoting mobility between countries and the scientific and industrial sectors. The first call is planned for July 2021.

The aim of PoliSolidBat is the development of all-solid-state batteries using polymers for the electrolyte and cathode.  In the project, we are working to create an enhanced interface, engineered by 3D printing, that could maximize the stability and charging speeds of the devices. The use of these environmentally friendly materials would offer huge advantages over state-of-the-art batteries in terms of sustainability, safety and costs, which will have a tremendous societal impact.
