ECPU Researchers participated in 70th ISE Conference in South Africa
Dr. Andreas Mavrantonakis and Edgar Ventosa from the Electrochemical Processes Unit of IMDEA Energy attended the 70th Annual Meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE) from 4th to 9th August 2019 in Durban, South Africa. It is the major event organized annually by the ISE with over 800 attendees coming from all over the world. It consists of 21 parallel symposia with invited speakers, oral and poster presentations, tutorials, masterclasses and 6 plenary sessions, one of which was delivered by the Nobel Laureate Sir Fraser Stoddart.
Dr. Mavrantonakis presented his latest work on the modeling of Phenazine-based materials in Redox-Flow Batteries in an oral presentation entitled: “A Density Functional Theory Study of the Redox Chemistry of Phenazines”. His presentation was part of the Symposium 15 on “Computational Electrochemistry and Simulation”.
Dr. Ventosa presented his recent work on alkaline flow batteries, entitled: “Towards High-energy Alkaline Flow Batteries by Enabling Charge Storage in Solid Materials”. Moreover, he chaired one session of the Symposium 7, which is focused on “Novel Energy Storage Materials and Devices”.
